Our Pelletizing Strand Pelletizers are in use for the processing of the melted polymer into cylindrical, dry, and easy to handle plastics pellets.
Moreover, we offer strand pelletizers which are specially designed for the processing of food and pharmaceutical products.
we provide the whole product range for strand pelletizing - from cooling to dewatering, pelletizing, and screening. The size and function of every single component are individually configured to your product's needs. Our plants cover a throughput range from 2 kg/h to 6,300 kg/h.
We offer a full scope of suitable components to cover the entire process from melt to pellet. Due to the modular design and easily changeable connections, the individual components can be easily integrated into existing production lines. Our specialty is the layout and delivery of complete strand pelletizing plants, along with the engineering and fabrication of tailor-made special solutions. We realize systems for the plastics and chemical industry as well as for food and pharma applications.
Within the strand pelletizing process the extruded, cooled and dried plastic strands are taken into the strand inlet. The strands are caught by both feed rolls and transported to the cutting section. The upper feed roll is pressured.
The cutting section consists of a stationary bed knife and a rotating cutting rotor. Between the edges of the bed knife and the cutting rotor, the plastic strands are cut into regular, cylindrical pellets.
The acceleration of the cutting transfers the pellets into the pellet outlet. From there they are going to the following components, such as vibration screens or conveyors.
Water Cooling Strand Pelletizer
Strand pelletizing (cold cut)
Melt coming from a die head is converted into strands that are cut into pellets after cooling and solidification.
It is suitable for masterbatch, compounding, and engineering plastics.
A line utilizing a simple water bath for strand cooling often is the first option for compounding plants. However, the individual
layout can vary significantly, due to the demands of throughput, flexibility, and degree of system integration. In strand pelletizing,
polymer strands exit the die head and are transported through a water bath and cooled. After the strands leave the water bath,
the residual water is wiped from the surface by means of a suction air knife. The dried and solidified strands are transported to
the pelletizer, being pulled into the cutting chamber by the feed section at a constant line speed. In the pelletizer, strands are cut
between a rotor and a bed knife into roughly cylindrical pellets. These can be subjected to post-treatment like classifying,
additional cooling, and drying, plus conveying.
Cowin's water baths are designed to meet the needs of your extrusion line. Made of 304 stainless steel, our cooling tanks are
available in multiple sizes to accommodate most extrusion applications. Our rugged painted steel support frames are equipped
with heavy-duty support jacks for adjusting the height. A weir box with a removable screen is standard along with inlet and drain
ports.
Water strand pelletizing line is suitable for most polymer compounding production, which features a simple structure, easy operation, and convenient maintenance
Advantage of Water Strand Pelletizing line
It is suitable for most polymer compounding production, which features a simple structure, easy operation, and convenient maintenance. The threshold of operators is also low. This system consists of a strand die, water batch, air knife, strand pelletizer, and vibrating classifier
Air cooling strand pelletizing line can be used to process and application of partial high polymer material, including PVC, LLDPE, masterbatch, high-filling caco3 masterbatch, degradable masterbatch, high-density carbon masterbatch, and so on.
Features air cooling strand pelletizing line:
Transport and cooling of granules made by wet extrusion
Ideal for water-soluble formulation
Continuous operation or batch production
Suitable for laboratory usage in the research and development phase
For pelletizing from an extruder or reactor vessel
Advantages of air cooling strand pelletizing line:
Unlike conventional extrusion in a water bath, the air-cooling strand pelletizing line does not require manual threading of strands. Strands are deposited directly on the conveyor belt and automatically conveyed to the strand pelletizer. The cooling is done by special air fans with high cooling capacity.
